Giethoorn

Giethoorn is a small village, also known as a Little Venice. It has a simple beauty that it hardly seems real with small canals, pretty thatched-roof farm houses and a fairytale like gardens. It is currently home to less than 3000 people, most of them living on their private islands. There are approx. 180 bridges as it's the only way to reach many houses, other than by boat. You can rent a boat to explore the waterways on your own.
